My New Single “(Find Your) Happy Place” Featuring Mindi Abair
More than 25 years ago, I discovered a talented young saxophonist performing on the Third Street Promenade in Santa Monica. That saxophonist was Mindi Abair. I invited her to join my band, and we spent the next three years touring the world together. When it came time to record “(Find Your) Happy Place,” asking Mindi to be part of the project was an easy decision. This recording represents a true full-circle moment for both of us, celebrating a friendship and musical connection that has stood the test of time.
I’m honored that Schmooze Jazz USA took the time to review “(Find Your) Happy Place.” One line especially resonated with me:
“Rather than placing the spotlight on his formidable keyboard chops, he allows the arrangement to carry the narrative.”
As a composer, that’s one of the greatest compliments I could receive. I hope you’ll take a moment to read the full review, then listen to the single and let me know what you think.
I was especially honored by one observation in a recent review:
“Rather than placing the spotlight on his formidable keyboard chops, he allows the arrangement to carry the narrative.”
As a composer, that’s one of the nicest compliments I could receive. My hope has always been to serve the song first and let the music speak for itself.
I hope “(Find Your) Happy Place” brings you as much joy as it brought us creating it.
Here’s the link to the review. Please comment and like if you liked it!
